Today’s Slice of Zen

Here's a quick sample of video from my Sony RX100 compact. Truth be told I'm using the RX100 a lot in my day-to-day photography, and I'm liking it a lot, so I've made some changes to my review to better reflect my evolving impressions.

These dancing jellyfish aren't ideal for judging sharpness, but this is hand-held, straight out of the camera footage, and overall picture quality is quite good.

I'm particularly pleased with the RX100's image stabilization system. This is a very small camera, and it weighs about eight ounces; normally, you'd see a lot of jitter from my shaking hands, but the RX100 has pretty much smoothed all that out.

Additionally, larger motions (such as when my kids jump me midway through) are nicely smoothed as well. All in all, the RX100 is doing a very nice job with the scene. The truly noteworthy part of the equation is the RX100's size: it really does bring professional-grade image quality to your pocket.
